Ok, that’s a very Stuff-esque click bait title. Still, he’s got some stern words for his former party:

Greenpeace NZ head Russel Norman, the former co-leader of the Green Party, is furious that the new Government is less aggressive on fishing management than the last one.

Funny :-)

...but seriously, the Greens do seem to be MIA on a lot of environmental issues right now.  I really do think that they would have been far more effective in a different coalition arrangement.

If you think the Greens are grumpy with NZ First now, wait until next week when Winston pulls the rug on NZ signing up to UN migration agreement...

Reciprocity: BREAKING - Head of Greenpeace considers voting National next time!

This looks like a pointless clickbait forum post heading unsupported by the article.

Actually, Russell Norman is only the most recent ex-Green Party MP to express disappointment with the direction the party currently seems to be heading.

IMO - it's a real shame that environmentalism no longer appears to be their top priority.

I really think kiwis struggle with the MMP concept.  The Greens absolutely tanked at the election over the Metiria Turei escapade and so are the outside partner.  With that being said the current leadership has actually genuinely achieved some things for their constituents, more than Russell Norman ever could being in opposition the entire time he was in parliament.  Its almost like party faithful would rather achieve nothing, than compromise at all. Frankly given the hole that their own member dug during the last election they are lucky they have any influence at all.

Pretty sure that National would happily revive their Kermadec marine reserve bill. Greens + National is plenty of votes to get it into law. And plenty of votes to block any attempts by NZF to repeal it. The Greens can very easily make a difference in fisheries law right now, if they want to.

They should be happy that National (foe whatever reason) hasn't tried to reintroduce that bill to Parliament. As that would force the Greens into a catch 22 - Support the bill and risk the coalition government breaking up. Or oppose it, and then have to try and put a positive spin on them voting against the enviroment. Which would instead run the risk of them splitting their own party.

As for MMP, since the Greens only support Labour. There is no point in voting for the Greens. Might as well just vote Labour instead. The Greens only do well when Labour is also doing well. When it is a close race between Labour and National, Green voters vote Labour instead.

Same thing happens with National and Act.
