I'm not sure that a report card is even warranted this year.

It's been a year of such absurdity (on both sides of the house) that reality & satire have converged to such a degree that www.thecivilian.co.nz is practically out of a job!

I agree, but not sure I'd call it absurdity. I'd call it inexperience from the red side, and no leadership on the blues side. 2019 will see some meat to deal with, plans turning into action, or not, inexperience improving to less issues, National sorting the leadership out and perhaps opposing properly

I cant see Davis has a D, E at best

That's true :-)

Sorry - I wasn't insinuating that others shouldn't add their assessments.  It was just an attempt at a bit of levity.

@tdgeek I am not sure it's inexperience in the Coalition. There are quite a few miles on the clock for quite a few in the Coalition. The PM is finding her way but has a very experienced Deputy PM probably the most experienced member of House. Jacinda Ardern  is new in the job and so Simon Bridges and she is doing a vastly better job. Simon Bridges has shown that he is woefully unprepared for the role and unqualified to be be a Leader or MP and with his performance of late and stated beliefs he is barely qualified to be let loose on any community.

I honestly believe that if Labour was not in a coalition and Winston was not Deputy PM Kelvin Davis would not be deputy Leader. I don't think Labour would risk that if they were governing alone.

I took the inexperience as JA obviously, and that also applies to SB, but the Labour Party has been out of power for so long, and in disarray for so long, they seem out of their depth at times. If National wins 2020 and Labour is back in 2023 they would slide back in, just as National would in 2020. Just my opinion, but yes, Peters does add a lot of help there, that's certain. A lot of miles on the clock, but been in the garage for 9 years and rusty!

2019 should see less of these issues from both sides one would hope

National: F

Act: Not even worthy of a rating

NZ First: E

Labour: C

Greens: C+

Simon Bridges: does not deserve to be acknowledged as a being

Winston Peters: see above

The Fool That Leads Act: see above

Judith Collins: see above

Paul Bennett: see above

Green Party Co-Leaders: completely boring but seem decent enough

Jacinda Ardern: A John Key with some morals - limited substance but likable enough

Shane Jones: village idiot extraordinaire

The star politicians to me have been Andrew Little and David Parker. They have come across as genuinely intelligent, responsible and considered individuals.
