Since that documentary Leaving Neverland came out, there's been a backlash to stop playing things he was involved with, such as his music on NZ radio stations.

The latest one today is The Simpsons creators are pulling an early episode called Stark Raving Dad from syndication.

What do you think of all this?

The man has been dead for nearly ten years now and allegations of paedophilia have followed him around for a very long time.

I recall when allegations first surfaced many years ago people talking about being uncomfortable with Jackson's music at that time, and definitely airplay declining from that time.

This is a new round of it. Personally I find it difficult to listen to anything from the Neverland period and I haven't even seen the documentary. Ultimately it's getting less airplay because people are less interested in listening to it. The allegations - I tend to think it's a bit unlikely that so many people would be lying and out for money. At least one has a fairly successful career.

The older stuff I hear on the radio sounds great. In spite of the fact that Joe Jackson was a fairly abusive guy in many ways apparently.

I believe they should continue to play his music as it was created by many people not just Jackson. Jackson isnt the only artist with major flaws and has never been proved conclusively.

I watched the 2 shows a few nights ago and it was compelling viewing. The only thing I can say is that during the interview of the 2 men I was amazed at their exacting recall of events as 7 year olds. I do believe Jackson was a deviant, but the detail these 2 guys recalled as 7 year olds was incredible.

I have been discussing this on another thread. Here is my last comment there: People who do bad things can also do good things and the things should be judged on their own merit, not on the character of their creator. It is stupid, hypocritical, dishonest, and plain silly to confuse the two. Anyone who seriously believes in this kind of nonsense better never drive a Ford, because old Henry wasn't the most enlightened of individuals when it came to people of the Jewish faith. Even Walt Disney had some disturbing ideas. As soon as you start saying this or that can't be enjoyed because the person who produced it did something unacceptable, you are headed down a very dark rabbit hole.

Reading about Joe Jackson now he was a much nastier character than I thought. Beyond discipline. Pretty disturbing what La Toya had to say about him. It would not surprise me if Jackson himself was more screwed up than anyone thought.

I am strongly against the self-righteous notion that any music or any other art should be banned solely because of what the artist may or may not have done. But I don't believe that being 'screwed up' can ever provide any justification for screwing up other people. If Michael Jackson's father was a twisted sadist who tortured his kids, that is a tragedy but it doesn't excuse any of them going on to inflict pain on others.

I haven't seen the latest documents, but as Rikkitic alluded to on another thread, he isn't here to defend himself, a pretty reasonable right in and of it's own, and pretty much, these people can say whatever they want, twist things however they wish, and there isn't any defence for it.

He was tried and found not guilty on multiple occasions. No shortage of resources were spent in both his prosecution and defence. I feel the man was criminally stupid for even being alone in a bedroom repeatedly with young kids.

I also intend to continue to enjoy MJ's music, because it is not not a direct product of whatever things he may or may not have done. They don't promote paedophilia which I despise, and the man himself isn't profiteering from it any longer given he is dead.

His estate benefits, but these people to my knowledge are not being accused of being involved. I have heard things about the documentary tonight and there isn't a lot of balance.

I've never liked MJ music - was past my teenage years by the time he appeared as a the mega pop star, he appealed to a different crowd.

We tried to watch part 1 of the doco on youtube, but turned it off. It was certainly a hatchet job. Slow, drawn out and extremely explicit accounts of actions that I have little doubt are true (but it doesn't matter what I think about his guilt).

This should have been dealt with at the time - the warning signs were hardly subtle - but "America". Far too much money involved, justice in the US served by how much you can afford to pay for teams of lawyers or bribe people to STFU... Decades later, the truth being denied, of course money is central to disagreement as to Jackson's guilt, hundreds of millions at stake and future earnings at risk. The motives of his accusers also questionable because of money. So we'll never know beyond any doubt.

Even if it is all true, which it very possibly is, there is an awful lot of self-righteous preciousness in the rush to condemn anything and everything associated with him. I described this as lynch mob behaviour elsewhere and it most certainly is. All of the radio stations hysterically banning his music, including our own, are at least as disgusting as he was. What a load of two-faced cowardly self-important squawking geese they are! I hope they will now go on to ban the music of every other performer who has ever behaved inappropriately with a child. Hell, ban everyone who has ever been unkind to a woman, or behaved in any other morally unacceptable way. There is going to be an awful lot of silence out there.

i dont know, ask Kevin Spacey how is career is going and the lead singer of Lost Prophets is in jail and no one plays there records anymore, R Kelly ,Ceelo Green, Gary Glitter do you hear any of there music on stations.

Kevin Spacey may be out of work, but I notice that the moral indignation did not spread to cancelling the series that featured him as the lead character. Gary Glitter wouldn't be played today regardless of his actions. He shouldn't even have been played then. Jerry Lee Lewis is still with us. If people want to get serious about casting stones, they might consider removing Godfather of Soul James Brown from the Hall of Fame. There is so much hypocritical stupidity wrapped up in this that it is hard to know even where to start.

As I said before the show is very compelling viewing and I am sure all involved were determined to make the doco a success. The two "abused" gents seemed authentic, but we must be aware that they have both tried to sue Jacksons camp previously and failed due to the Judge dismissing their case because of the time difference. I am sure they will be making millions now as the entire world is talking about this programme.
