Can’t find it online, but page 7 of Thursday’s press,

“Television viewers will have to wait a little longer for action movies return to free to air and Sky TV”

Then it mentions further in article coming days and weeks so could be a while.

Probably due to what happened in Christchurch. Considering that most action movies involve guns. And often show the good guys using guns to shoot the bad guys.

And any movie that is a a reenactment of war, or depicts fictional events as if they had occurred during a war. Would definitely not be screened anytime soon.

I found some links and a couple of examples:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-shooting/111415697/tvnz-mediaworks-sky-continue-to-reschedule-programmes-in-wake-of-christchurch-terror-attacks

And from that link:

However, they had already decided to replace TVNZ2's Saturday night action-movies Elysium and Collateral Damage with Adam Sandler comedy Blended and Christopher Nolan's rival magicians tale The Prestige.

Elysium is a sci-fi movie....Adam Sandler to the rescue to replace that one with though.

Wonder if Game of Thrones will be allowed in NZ.

And an older link.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/111371447/tvnz-mediaworks-prime-pulling-violent-programming-in-wake-of-christchurch-attacks

Edit:Also stuff has been pulled from Neon where you pick what you want to watch is mentioned in one of links. Homeland is still on Netflix so doesn't look like they're pulling stuff, I'm not watching it but figured it would be one pulled if they were, As NCIS and SVU were pulled from TV.

Some stuff may get back to normal after a week but then I was wondering about this statement:

Speaking on Monday, MediaWorks' chief content officer Andrew Szusterman said they were "conscious the mood of the nation has changed and our our programming will reflect that in the coming days and weeks".

Seems to imply some sort of long term change."Our programming will reflect that in the coming days and weeks"

The age of on-demand streaming allows each of us to choose what is appropriate for ourselves. Broadcast TV is less relevant by the day.

This always happens after a tragedy. Especially if what was scheduled had any parallels with what occurred.

Heard of that with movies not being released after some tragedy that bears similarity. Haven't paid too much attention to tv for a long time but it seems appropriate.
