I am not posting this in the main Mosque shooting thread because we don't need this kind of disrespect on that thread. Below are examples of what passes for "news" for some simple minded rednecks in America.

Unbelievable.

And don't kid yourself for a minute. These are American accounts on Twitter but if you look on Facebook closely you will probably see these same kind of comments from within New Zealand too.

As I said in one the status I posted, this is reminder that the same people thaT read and spread this kind rubbish have the right to vote just like you do. So if you don't go out and vote when there's an election, we get whatever this people vote in.

I assume free speech rules and for me I dont really object to them venting their crazy opinions. Its my choice as well, and I choose not to read it.

Sure, they have the right to say what they want (to a limit - no hate and racism). It does not mean I can't criticise and say how crazy and disconnected from the world they sound and how wrong they are.

I normally try to avoid this kind of stuff because it makes me so angry. I suppose that is a cop-out but it is also a survival mechanism. I do always vote. What discourages and depresses me is that about half of Americans seem to think this way if you go by the polls. I don't doubt that a significant number of Kiwis also do, but there seems to be a fundamental difference in our society, reflected in the overwhelming support given to the government and the Muslim community after the tragedy. At least I hope that is true since I live here.

@Freitasm: I was wondering if you have to screen out large numbers of trolls who never make it to the forum pages. I know you have no tolerance for extremists and the level of discourse on GZ is generally pretty civil. Are there hordes of walking dead zombies pounding at the gates?

Some are weeded out before it happens. But we are not welcoming so there aren't many that try.
