I can't believe this has made it to the news.

老皮 means Old Pete which is a common way Chinese address elders in their communities (Old + persons surname)

There is no such thing as old skin, old naughty in Chinese.
It almost looks like someone ran the Chinese characters through Google translate and decided there is a conspiracy. To then claim this is evidence of PRC influence in Chinese media in NZ is just absurd.


Those so called Chinese experts really need to be ashamed of themselves. And it really goes to show how much they really know about Chinese culture.

from Someone who's migrated from Shanghai since 17 and been in NZ for 18 years.
