TV3's decision08 site has obviously been hammered and has been dead most of the night - back now with no live results. TVNZ also seems to be very slow as well.

Actually I've been using electionresults.govt.nz which seems to be behaving quite okay (Xtra connection from my place).

I watched Stuff/Vote '08 as well as the TV3 coverage.

Stuff was extremely fast all night and IMO had the best information. Stuff was also several minutes ahead of TV3 with data at times. Nice work Fairfax Digital.

Very happy with the coverage, and very happy with the result.

If you look through eact seat it's obvious that the bulk of people give both votes to the same party - ie margins between candidates and party votes are similair %'s. The obvious cxeption to this is Epsom where tactival voting occured - Hide was elected but the party vote was a landslide to National.

A significant numbers of NZers really don't even understand the basics of how MMP actually works. I've even heard people asking today how ACT could get 5 seats when they didn't get 5% of the vote.

My boss asked me that today. I had someone try and argue with me about why they think John Key is dodgy and then admitted they actually havent followed the campaign at all and make their decision totally what they had heard about John Key's recollection of the Springbok Tour. FFS.

Well at least thats based around an actual comment made - I get more upset with comments like "He looks dodgy so I won't be voting for them" and when asked they haven't followed anything at all!

I have no problems with people voting there mind - if only it were an informed decision! Democracy in action Sealed
