What an earth is up with mainstream NZ Media?

Frankly embarrassing that we would give any opportunity for this ridiculous bigot to espouse his views on *anything* here in NZ.

Cannot answer your question directly...

However... if you don't agree with this simply stop reading their sites. Its the best (possibly only) action you can take. They work on viewership and if that declines then things will change. I stopped visiting them ages ago for similar reasons. Also - it will do your mental health better too.

You are right of course.

I just get frustrated by the fact that they have a platform endorsed and broadcast so widely in this country, seemingly without robust competing platforms or messages

I hear you. I agree with you. But....what can you do?

We all used to laugh at stuff.co.nz and rightly so. However; recently I think they've turned a bit of a corner. They're not perfect, though NZ Herald (and related media) have seemingly made a concerted effort to take their place!

I mean ZB already has the self confessed conspiracy theorist Mike Hosking they can't step down any lower than Farage.

NZH is NZH. Just mostly crappy Murdoch style pieces.

@Item Your two links are really just the same one story within that overall news group. NZ, China and Five Eyes have been in the news recently and I don’t have a problem with NZME reporting what Farage has said. As with anything they publish, I can decide whether I agree or not with what he’s saying. When I saw the Farage headline on the NZH website, I got the gist of what he’s saying and chose to pass on by without reading it.

Maybe you’re over-reacting because you don’t like Farage and/or what he’s saying. This one story is hardly the wide reflection on ‘NZ mainstream media’ that you claim.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
