I'm thinking about migrating my VDSL connection from Slingshot to Voyager when I move house, but keen to make sure that the Unlimited package doesn't mean that Evening speeds hit a slowdown due to insufficient backhaul being allocated. I'm not actually that high a user of bandwidth, so quality of connection is more important than sheer quantity (probably use between 40 - 80GB a month). Equally, as long as the "Unlimited" bandwidth doesn't affect the quality, it does mean there will be no surprise bills if we had a very busy month. I also like the idea of the Static IP allocation for a one-off fee.
So how are evening peak-time speeds on Voyager VDSL?
I've been on Voyager for a couple of months now, happy with the service, only had to contact them once and that was because my voicemail hadn't been activated :)
Of an evening I do notice a slight slow down, but not enough to make me want to give up on the internet :-p There does seem to be some routing issues with a couple of sites (imgur.com can be dog slow) but overall everythings good. Ping in games (CS:GO etc) are always around 30 or less.
Cost wise I couldnt complain - for me to get what I have with Voyager via my old ISP, wouldve been costing me $170 a month (after I spoke to retention team that dropped to $120....surprise - not.) On Voyager its $100.
VDSL, unlimited data, landline (VoIP) , voicemail, static IP and good service.
