Rang Voyager for the first time today, lady that answered the phone super helpful but did not know the technical questions I was asking her but she did find out from someone so good one for that.

But I thought I would come on here and ask does Voyager ever have any deals? they seem to just have the fixed prices and nothing else.

I'm looking for a new provider coming from Orcon.

Their prices are already extremely competitive, no specials needed :)

They had a deal a few years ago if you signed up for 12 or 24 months, can’t recall, and you got a Sonos Play:1 speaker.
My parents signed up for that.

Im just saying they had good customer service.  Orcon have been so so in customer service when there is a technical issue.

Would you say there is any difference in speed Voyager vs the likes of Orcon etc

Nothing wrong with fixed prices if they're fair, which they are.

Your first mistake is attempting to bottom dollar a great ISP.

The reason they're a great ISP is because they don't need to bottom dollar themselves. Either you join a great ISP (they're not expensive either) or you go to a bottom dollar ISP and miss out on something like great service or connectivity.

Not all ISP's are built the same - I wrote this a number of years ago which may help you make an informed decision: https://murfy.nz/2018/02/06/picking-the-right-isp/

Edit: Also $15 once-off for a Static IPv4 as well as a Static IPv6 /56 subnet on Voyager.

I'd rather have good value every day, than great value for a period and then terrible value after that. Consistently well-priced goods & services beats specials any day IMO.

If it's really price point you're looking at then someone like Trustpower or My Republic or Vodafone would be who would approach. I believe Trustpower used to give away appliances when you joined them but then you're locked into a contract with an exit fee as well.

But, they have very poor customer service (especially the latter two) and are known for screwing things up then taking forever to fix their muck-ups.

As Mr Murfy says - don't choose an RSP just based on price, or whatever special they have going. You're only asking for trouble.

Yes, save a few dollars but then spend many hours of your time on the phone to them if you need support or want to change something. You need to choose what's more important to you.

I agree with all you statements, due to circumstances changing, I'm trying to reduce outgoings that's the only reason.

I agree with this, most providers in NZ are within $10 of each other. To be fair I've had an exceptional experience with Orcon, with Voyager and I'd recommend either in a heart beat. Voyager has pretty great business support and is the reason we recommend them to business.

Everyone wants a good deal, but it doesn't take much frustration to offset a relatively small saving a month, so if you can get a reasonable deal with a good provider, I'd suggest you are better off working an extra 1-2 hours a year to pay for it or find savings elsewhere :)

haha, I took everyones advice and stuck with a big provider (vocus group) $79 per month for gigabit vs $79 for 100/20 on Voyager

when circumstances change I will move to Voyager as I have in the past used them and great support.

Vocus ISPs are already great, no point moving.

Not sure I'd say Slingshot falls under great in my experience.
