hello

Just need sum advice which credit card has the best points on offer vs fees and interest rate .

currently just holding bnz visa classic credit card (only fly buys points on offer ) and american  express platinum edge $150 annual fee (conditional points ), only just broke even vs the points and fees so not really worth having i think.

as for all credit cards i never let them charge interests cause its definitely not worth having credit card if you always in debit, interests rate  is just too high . credit card for me is to get the most points out of card vs  fees cause i want to win, not them...

any good cards out there at the moment  ?

I have a Kiwibank platinum. 1 airpoint per $90 spend. 2 free koru lounge passes per $10k spent on it. Free travel insurance when you buy either your flights or accommodation with it. Free concierge services.

NEver had a problem with KWB on the whole.

I use ANZ Cashback Platinum. 1% cashback if your yearly spend is above $10,000 or 0.5% if $9999 or under. Yearly fees is $125 but I asked it to be waived for 2 years when I moved my CC from ASB on the grounds of how much I spend on my CC every month. I will ask to have the fees waived when the 2 years are up and I am sure their retention team will comply. Not a big fan of Airpoints anymore.

Do whatever you want to do man.

We have a Warehouse credit card which offered the best value to us when I researched a few years ago.

I don't rely on the free credit card travel insurance.  If there is a real emergency needing immediate medical care it is not easy to activate the cover (from experience).

We found the last thing you want to be doing in time of a medical emergency is phoning around banks and insurance companies trying to figure out how you paid for your travel. Especially if phone coverage is poor.

I have a Airpoints Platinum MasterCard run by Kiwibank which is expensive per year , I think about 150.00 but it has its benefits, monthly prize draws etc, its ok if you pay the lot on time

ASB Platinum - $1 reward per $100 spent. Not quite as good as the one posted above, but pretty close. I only pay gold card fees, probably because I spend a fair amount on the card. I may ask them to waive the fees - have many people had success with that?

I also rely on the credit card insurance. Before I travel I put a copy of the proof of payment into Google drive (accessible from my phone) and make sure it's available on my phone offline, and I sometimes print it out, along with contact numbers for the insurance company. I've never had to use it though.

I wish they would change the reward for a spend. As a Koru Member they are pointless, we get a LOT of extra passes each year and they go in the bin!

Can you give them away? If so I'd appreciate some.

Hi There!

We throw them away because they can't be used by others unfortunately, something we have also complained about.

I'd get a written confirmation from ANZ each time before travel that we are covered.

Depends entirely what you're after and what your spend is.

Canstar released their latest credit card report last week comparing the value of all cards, I'd look there for a start.

ANZ Policy is through AIG who are very good to deal with.

If you want a written policy certificate which has all details of the cover and contact details on it you can submit your travel details on their website and it will generate one for you.

Information here. Honestly it's not very helpful.
