I like the can openers that dont leave a finger=slicing edge. I bought one a few years ago at a home show, plastic knob fell off, but are not easily found in most supermarkets

I have something similar, which is perhaps more ergonomic designer and higher quality , which you can see at https://www.amazon.com/Cuisipro-747070-Can-Opener/dp/B000G16RDW

They are great because you can use the lid as a proper lid and put it back in the fridge. The only problem is that the blade seems to wear out after 3 or so years and won't cut all the way through, and they aren't cheap to replace. But they certainly produce the best opening experience, and you don't have the lid falling into the food, which is a hygene issue.

For someone who mostly lives on bread, it is an essential tool!

I do still regret not bagging one of the Marmite limited edition ones that were made a few years ago though.

We have a Tupperware one - brought from one of their evenings. Big grips and handles that are easy to hang on to and provide lots of torque with no strain - my mother has arthritis in her hands and she thinks it's the cat's pajamas. Does the side opening thingy so no sharp edges and lid can be closed again.

Next time someone you know is having a tupperware party, either get along or get them to get you one.

I have one too that is probably 20 years old, and they are certainly made to last. The only problem is replacing the elements if they burn out, as last time I did i was about $100 for an element excluding installation, which is the price of a good normal toaster. I also think they have changed them, and not sure the new ones fit into the old models, however I think you can buy third party ones that can fit.

A dedicated ice cream scoop. Years of bending handles trying to use a desert spoon.

Desert spoon? You usually use them in the Sahara or the Gobi. I use a dessert spoon for ice cream

But I agree, a scoop, especially with the lever is great

Is there such a thing as a noodles saucepan, that has a sieve type lid? To avoid draining out the water, and allowing miscellanous noodles and other bits out too.

I know. How many people have I have heard saying "I had no idea how expensive children are" or "I had no idea they would take up so much time and I would feel so tired" etc? Hundreds, I should think.

It appears to be the one activity which completely disables most people's ability to assess hypothetical effects and outcomes!
