23c is all I got. Better than the $800 or so I had to pay a few years ago when I changed jobs though so I'm not complaining.

Got the email today at 03:37 but no money in the bank as yet. The letter says takes up to 5 days to process the refund. Bwaaah... I need to get a new battery for the car while its got 25% off! The Repco sale ends 3/6/19 and Supercheap sale ends 2/6/19. Oh well...

my refund was ........................ 4 cents, but they won't refund that until it hits $1 in refunds :P

This year I owed 63c, which I think was written off. Better than last year, when I owed them $440 :(

Wife got a refund of over $1000!

Yay! Money appeared later on today so I am now the proud owner of a new battery for the car, (saving?) $100

I'm a whopping 35c in credit. Lying back, dreaming of what I could spend it on...

Why on earth does this happen? In most countries, your tax is accurate. Even if you change jobs or do not work for a while, it is tracked accurately every time you are paid. The only exception is if you do not work at all for the final paydays of the year.

Because up till now there has been a few fixed tax codes to choose from, and if you pay goes up, or you have 2 jobs so one has to be paid on the punitive secondary tax rate you pay too much during the year. Only been sorted out this year and not 100% from what I have been told.
