MackinNZ:

I just checked my credit card and I have a bunch of transactions from Apple as well.  BNZ have blocked the card and issued a new one.

What a pain.

Was that from the 29th as well ??.

Something somewhere has been breached and card details taken.

Yes it was.  I wonder if we'll ever find out who was compromised?

Or alternatively you could send me a PM with a list of places and I can create a spreadsheet so other people don't see your lists.

It's not Apple Pay, it's being used at the Apple merchant.

Has anyone been able to dispute this with the bank? I'm with ANZ and when I called them two days ago, they couldn't do anything as they funds were 'on hold'.

Now a few days later, I've called them back and they said this needs to go through the 'disputes' team and the team will need to review the transaction along with evidence from the merchant. The process will likely take 10 working days.

I would have thought that this is just a process where they take the charges off my card straight away.

Update: it might take longer than 10 days due to Covid-19

Mine I reported with BNZ was fixed within 1/2 hour.

Card was cancelled, balance minus fraud transactions transferred to new card and was issued and was ready to use within 1/2 hour.

Got notification on phone new card was available on apple pay.

Just waiting oh physical card to turn up now.

Looks like it's the usual process for ANZ. https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/7ovyyf/credit_card_disputes_process/

A pain in the ass one too.

Just a thought - worth comparing phone apps too?

Is it even possible that some paid app has got a bad ad and turned into rogue in-app purchases via the store?. Or are they protected enough at the store level.

As far as I know, they are protected at the store level.

Feel free to PM me and we can compare our transactions.
