No-one knows where the interest rates are going. Do a TD for 1 year.

With very high inflation, the interest rate trend looks to be rising. Historically rates are still very low. But nothing is guaranteed and anything could happen. I put some money in a TD a few weeks ago, and they have risen 0.5% today.

We had a TD mature today and we have re-invested in a new TD at 4% for 18 months. We are reasonably confident that interest rates will follow the OCR and rise over the next two years, and, in the meantime, we try to maximize the interest. That interest helps to ease the retirement, and the vacillations of managed funds would not be conducive to comfortable mental health!
