Out of ANZ, BNZ, Rabo, Coop, & SBS, BNZ is hands down best IMHO.

We have ASB, ANZ and BNZ.
BNZ and ANZ are probably the best.
I find the BNZ one sucks as there are things that you can't do through it such as setting up TDs and have to use the website version.
Really - what about this?
I can’t comment on other banks’ apps because I use only the BNZ one. I’m very much a bank-sceptic but I really like the BNZ app - it’s excellent IMO.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yep, I confirmed that on the previous page! https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=191&topicid=315850&page_no=1#3274508

So you'd be happy to pay thousands or 10's of thousands more just to have a better app experience?

Senecio:I'm happy with the ANZ app, but I can't compare it to anything else as we've banked with ANZ for the last 7-8 years. I haven't set foot in, logged into the website or made a phone call to ANZ in that time. Everything is done via the app.

I think this is, in the end, a fair point.
If I still had a mortgage the no. 1 driving factor would be the interest rates and the best overall deal from a $ perspective; provided the digital interface via the app and web didn't completely suck (in terms of lacking critical features) I'd cope.
Even now, the app experience isn't likely to make me switch my primary bank provided it's decent enough; it's also easy enough to use different banks for different purposes, eg I've rarely had my main credit card with my primary bank as I'll select that based on the best rewards deal going (though, as per another thread points out, they are all getting less generous). I'm also a bit of a rates slut so am happy to put up with using a wide range of banks (and their apps) to chase better returns. In the end, provided it does the job...
jonherries: Here is an Issue with the Kiwibank app that I think tells the story:
You can’t pay your credit card on the due date unless you manually create the payment event and manually add the value…
This is despite there being a button on the credit card view that only lets you pay the due balance immediately. It uses the same view as above, but it won’t let you change the date as the picker is greyed out.
There are a bunch of other issues that I have provided for the app dev team directly but presumably they are busy scrumming in an Agile way and don’t have time for making my life easier as a customer.
Jon
I suppose not surprising given people who pay on the due date don't really make as much money for the bank as the ones that only pays the minimum payment. /tinfoil hat

ASB Has this annoyance as well. I can pay it now, but not future date it without manually creating a payment and tying in the closing balance. I want access to that 55 days thanks, so you can bloody well wait for me to pay it.

BNZ then ANZ.
I find personally the other banks are quite behind now.
Yeah.. I couldn't even use Google Pay with my Kiwibank card a couple of years ago. Not sure if they've finally deployed that feature now.
