What software are people using for scanning receipts, particularly on flatbed scanners? I use the very old software that came with my brother multifunction device, Control Centre 4. It's ok. I'd like something that does scanning and OCR. I don't really care if it straightens the scans.

  1. You can download an updated version of Control Centre 4 from the Brother website. I think the best is to use the software update tool that came with your printer driver.
  2. Control Centre 4 does have OCR functionality as well.

Thanks. I'm already using the latest version apparently, 4.6.46.1, looks the same as it did years ago. It works fine, just a bit clunky.

I just use my iPhone to take the photo.  Both Google Photos and the Photos app will then find them all simply by searching for "receipt".

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Bung: I just had a NW self scanner not respond to the barcode on my phone screen and was told to press the camera icon beside the scanner. It worked then. I don't know what changed, maybe the mode of the scanner.

Thanks for this tip, it worked perfectly for me! So much better than having to type it in.
