@JaseNZ:

So my two looks like they were Russian. They were also set down as a subscription set weekly.

Are you sure these aren't fleeceware?

@freitasm I don't think so as I have not trialed anything via google, I run an apple eco system and our only outgoing from google is our nest aware account that now belongs to them so I don't know how both of these have happened.

Looks like one of our card details was gathered in the last few days and the culprits managed to make a few purchases via the Caltex and Burger King Apps along with the Vodafone prepay top up site. You would assume the  app based purchases could be tied to a number plate and possibly even an app user.

I have a suspicion I know which website it was as most of the transactions on that card are regular occurrences, only one in the last few days has been a new (to us) website with an embedded payment form that doesn't appear to be one of the normal processors.

My Amex was done recently. I got emails maybe 2weeks ago from an unusual Amex email address warning me about a potentially fraudulent transaction they had declined; which I assumed were phishing attempts of some kind.

Yesterday I find two unauthorised charges. I called Amex and they advised one of these was at the same merchant they’d declined the charge at 2 weeks ago.

Interestingly this is on a card I haven’t actually really used online for maybe 6 months.

Im glad that so many places with those dodgey self hosted or embedded forms are now taking afterpay. So I just use that instead of risking my card details on something so untrustable.

The fact that it costs the merchants more is not my problem.

Half unrelated, but past few days have had new NZ Post fishing emails get past the hotmail filter direct to my focused inbox, with my correct name on the email content.  Very professional looking, a friend who had same emails today went all the way to credit card page before stopping and my relatively tech savvy 75yr old dad in UK fell for a similar DHL one, fraud payment for him was to ClearPay.

Fascinating, I don't think I've ever had any sort of issues on cards I've had with various institutions since I got my first one in 2005! Luck of the draw I guess.
