Mine signed up no problems, and the address verification seemed to happen without me even uploading a bill to them which it said that I had to.

Card has arrived and its embossed like a 1970s one so doesn't stack nicely and is hard to cover up the numbers :( Guess its not going in the everyday card set but will stay in the bag pocket.

Yours are embossed? That's weird, none of mine are - the numbers are just printed on the back.

My ID verification still hadn't completed after a week, and after a couple of days chatting with support, they told me that you need an NZ passport to complete ID verification, so NZ residents who aren't NZ citizens can't currently sign up. I'm a permanent resident, so can't go any further. It seems pretty odd that they can't cope with this situation.

Agreed, every attempt to withdraw / transfer money into an NZ bank account has failed. Everything has to be done via the mobile app. I see more benefit from Wise than with these guys.

I have used my card in payless situations with Google Wallet, and paid a couple of bills via bank transfer, no problem.

That is strange. I completed ID verification using an NZ passport in Australia with no problems - it does seem to me the launch in NZ is a bit more haphazard than we had.

Just received an email from Revolut Australia telling me that Revolut has now officially launched in New Zealand. Anyone who signs up before 3rd August goes into the draw to win one of 1,000 metal cards. Honestly not sure what the value of that is when New Zealand doesn't have a Metal Plan.

I am in same boat but elected to say yes, NZ citizen, and it will give you option to upload your DL instead. Weird stuff indeed.

Yesterday I decided to use the one-use virtual card to buy a season pass on Battle.net. It wasn't accepted, saying, "This merchant doesn't support this card".

It did accept the virtual card number though.

On another instance, I use a Wise card on as Coinbase account to withdrawal funds (they allow withdrawal to Visa debit cards).

I tried using the Revolut virtual card thinking it would be more useful than the Wise card. Coinbase complained saying "We cannot accept prepaid debit cards".

I received my new card from Revolut and was surprised to see it was still the old logo and it was embossed like Visa used to be in 2017.

Wise and Dosh issue the newer printed cards with all your info on the back.

I messaged them, they just replied saying this is the only card type for NZ currently.

Not a good look for a fintech company that has taken over 5 yrs to launch locally from when it’s should have.

In Australia, they initially launched with prepaid cards and later replaced them with standard debit cards. I suspect that until they become a licensed financial institution (not necessarily a bank) in New Zealand, they'll have to do the same thing (because they're likely partnering with someone else to issue the cards for now).

I’m overseas and used my nz drivers license. It was straightforward and done in half an hour.

I gave up - provided my drivers license and they wanted proof of address and couldn’t be bothered finishing the process.

They're legally required to collect your address. It's part of anti-money laundering legislation.
