Hey guys

So i am back with ANOTHER question (sorry if they are getting annoying). During the heavy rain at the end of last year, a lot of my house got flooded (leaky roof). Now the insurance company have said that the will not repair the inside of the house until i have my roof replaced. I am going to get this done soon. The insurance company has already got the carpet cleaned and now have got a quote from a company to plaster and paint walls and replace ceiling. Is it possible for me to claim this money and do it my self?

Ask your insurance company - it will probably depend on the terms of the policy.

Theoretically yes - it makes no difference to them to whom they pay the money.

They may have issues with workmanship and any future claims resulting from poor workmanship on the repairs etc.

Not that I am saying you would not do it properly, merely that they may prefer the idea of being able to sue an incompetent tradesmen to recover losses to blaming you in the event of something going wrong.
