Hi

I have a need to track and report on a number of small financial transactions, some of which are in PayPal.

Usually I would use something like CashBooks as it is free, there are all the basic features and it does everything, except, import PayPal exports because:

PayPal only exports QIF in USD, PayPal export includes heaps of columns that a few accounting packages I have tried, don't like and the CSV is just a mess of excessive detail.

I would love to use a small (free) accounting software that can handle PayPal imports - it does not have to be live, but if it could even import the PayPal CSV, that would be fine.

If you are a small business / sole trader, how are you reconciling your accounts if they include PayPal transactions?

You may like to take a quick look at CSV2QIF . I use this to get my trademe data (.csv) into Cashbook Complete which only works with .qif. You may find that it can map the PayPal .csv data to a .qif format that plays nicely with your CashBook program.

I tried out wave accounting a while ago, was quite good and appears to have intergration with paypal. The only problem being that back then it didnt have auto bank feeds for NZ, but could import from CSV.

Best of all its free which looks to be what you are after, otherwise I would have suggested Xero

I just setup an account and it prompted me to connect to ANZ and ASB as well as PayPal. It is able to get feeds now from these three and it seems to import the detail flawlessly.

I'm not 100% on how to use the actual system, but they have a few videos and a 'Wave University' which I'll work through this weekend.

So far, the only thing that is lost is NetCode logins to ASB. It doesn't like that.

The product for personal or small business use seems free (so far) but I'm sure my needs are so simple that it would be fine - at least, I'm okay paying a small amount if all these features work as promised.
