We had a power issue (North Shore Auckland) a little while ago -all our systems stayed up , but someone just reported Torbay has no power. Maybe related.

anyway an outage like that doesn't give confidence in their redundancy if they have lost voice, website and their back end servers.

You would think they would use their Twitter account to update status.

Yeah so about 10 stores both north and south island with no eftpos, websites with no credit card payments.

Would be helpful if they updated Twitter or Facebook with a status, but I cannot find any such thing as of yet.

Even my direct contact is not answering his phone (cellphone) obviously somthing big causing this outage.

Regards,
Liam Northcott

Edit, seems the website is back up now, eftpos still down.

Just got off the phone with support.

Eftpos should be back up in the next half hour or so according to them.

Will update here once I see any changes, currently still have eftpos down.

Edit, looks like all our eftpos units are coming back online now.
Should be good to go from here.

They said that they lost their internet connection to their server and that was the cause of their problems.

Hmmm. I think it may have been a little bit more complicated.

There have been reports that it was caused upstream by a Chorus fault. Anyone experience anything else?

At my work, as well as losing DPS we lost another vendor we iframe to our site.

Anyway, I have rather dark thoughts about their path redundancy for a service that should be five nines available. The outage was more than an hour looking at our sales, so it doesn't even make four nines.
