when you get a new job your automatically enrolled in kiwisaver but if you quit your job after 6 months are you still deducted kiwisaver payments each week or once you quit your job do the deductions stop? how does your kiwisaver provider know when you quit your job?

Kiwisaver contributions are a proportion of your income so if you're not working then you won't be making any Kiwisaver contributions unless you do so voluntarily.

When you start your next job your new employer will start taking contributions from your salary automatically.

Remember, you still need to opt-out of Kiwisaver otherwise the deductions they have made thus far will stay in some savings scheme until you are 65!
