Hi,

 

How much of the ACC levy can a home business claim? I can't find the info on the ird site and being a holiday they aren't at work. :)

 

I'm doing a rough estimate of my taxes today.

Maybe I misunderstood you but it is my understanding that ACC levies are based on the business classification that you operate rather than from where it is operated from.

Yep - levies are based on what the business does - the calculators use your BIC (https://www.companiesoffice.govt.nz/companies/learn-about/starting-a-company/how-to-apply/ird-information/bic)

 

 

 

Calculators on their website.

The ACC levy excluding any earner levy component is 100% tax deductible as a business expense and you should be claiming the GST on the deductible in the period incurred too.

I just thought it might make a difference if you were a sole trader paying your own vs a business paying for an employee's levy. :)
