Hi there,

 

Does anyone here that deals with crypto currencies like BitCoin, Ethereum, LiteCoin etc use one of those Visa cards that are linked to a BitCoin wallet?

 

I've been searching and searching but so far no one seems to send to New Zealand.

 

Is anyone using one now?  Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for replying but I'm not sure if it's a Visa card or just a debit card.  Hard to find detailed information on their website.  Also, New Zealand isn't in their list of supported countries.

 

Are you in New Zealand and do you have one of these cards?

Im curious what the use case is for a bitcoin denominated credit card. If the merchant accepts bitcoins - just pay them directly. If not - then every transaction would be a foreign currency transaction. Why not just get a normal credit card in whatever currency you make most of your purchases in. And just do a single bitcoin conversion each month to pay off the credit card?

 

Presuming that compliance with the Anti Money laundering Laws in NZ would be a nightmare for a company offering bitcoin payment solutions.

 

What am I missing?

They are all debit cards as far as I am aware and the current main provider for VISA is unable to provide cards outside of EU and some US states at present - they used to supply NZ and I'm pretty sure some folks around here have them. TenX and a number of others are working with a new provider and should be able to supply NZ early next year I believe.

 

Personally, I have my standard VISA registered with CEX.IO which allows me to convert BTC to USD and withdraw to this card.

I have just ordered a TenX card now - they went live around January 2019 and only available in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Let's see how long for the card to arrive and if it works.

 

It's a debit card, linked to your TenX wallet. I get some BAT (Brave Attention Tokens) every month and had no way to withdrawal from Uphold. I just converted my BAT balancce to Bitcoin and sent some to TenX to test.

Nope. I receive some small amount every month from Brave browser users.

I let it acumulatr then transfer to the card. I can them use it for normal purchases - usually coffee or deposit to Sharesies.
