So I'm thinking of switching Kiwisaver providers and saw a thread on here early last year that Simplicity kiwisaver was low on fees and also had pretty decent returns. After a year from that thread, just wondering if people's opinions are the same or have they changed?

I'm still happy with them - have kiwisaver and a separate managed fund with them

Still with them. Still happy.

Could have requested to unlock that thread so it would notify whoever posted there before...

Yes, good point. I was thinking of doing that but forgot to in the end.

I'm still happy, and would recommend them to anyone.

Past performance is not a reliable guide to future performance.

I'm talking current performance as well.

What do you think is a reliable guide to future performance, if any?

Given the volatility that's just hit the market, I think everyone is going to have a bad return this month.

Having said that I'm with Simplicity and they are much easier and better to deal with than my previous provider

Would it be safer to have different providers for one of these to reduce risk of bad decision taking out both investments ?

Normally yes, that would be a good idea. In my case, I'm happy with my diversification across other investments.

That said, it's an ETF, the risk of a 'bad decision' taking out both investments is probably pretty slim - they're not picking stocks.

Current performance is past performance (i.e. how good are the returns up to now?). I don't think there's any really reliable guide to future performance, if there were, we'd all be rich! Personally, I try not to take past performance into account when picking investments because you never know what they'll be like going forward. If that's why you want to pick Simplicity, no worries, but hopefully they have something else going on for you too.

The fund you choose should be more about your risk appetite and time horizon than returns though, right?
