Need a few more details,

What's that other half of the transfer denominated in?,

Are you buying of selling NZD?

is it one of the "big 10" or an exotic?

The missus has opportunity to buy a piece of land next to the land she already owns.

Will need to send to Philippines (PHP) so probably an exotic maybe?

There's a few threads about this on Geekzone. I used http://www.currencyonline.com/ a few years back and they were really good, good service and good rates. I moved a similar amount of money after moving countries.

PHP is definitely an exotic, + it has currency controls and a managed float...

I would stick out feelings to the Pilipino expat community,  I image there is a fairly busy remittance flow out of NZ in that direction, and they will have found the easiest and cheapest way.....

Thanks

Will get her to do some research. I just thought asking here might come up with some ideas and that may help to decide if what they think is good.

I've used Ox Forex for the past 12 years with no issues. Admittedly its NZ to the UK mostly, but they appear to be able to send money to the Philippians from their available currencies list

Transferwise is popular here in the UK and what I use to send money back to NZ. Not sure if it's a thing in NZ.

TransferWise are great although I have only used them for sub $1000 transfers so haven't compared their rates for the larger volumes.

Feel free to use my referral link to get a free transfer of up to 500 euro to test it out

Transferwise seems to be the flavour of the month, with rates significantly below other companies.
