Anybody know of a good way of sending a small amount over the ditch? Wanting to send about $100aud worth for a mates birthday. As far as I know it's about $9 or so in fees for a bank transfer (ANZ).

Short of posting it (is that even allowed?) what's a better way to send without getting bit by fees? If it comes to it I could just paypal it over.

Look into Transferwise, cheaper than using a bank. I ha ent used them but a couple of colleagues use them regularly and say they are very good.

Paypal works well if they have an account.

I send to Australia using TransferWise pretty frequently. They have the best fx rate I can find, and the fees are totally reasonable.

Another +1 for Transfer Wise. Quick and easy, usually arrives two days after you send it. E.g Pay Wednesday, receive Friday morning. Of course, you need to know your mates BSB and account number (BSB is roughly the equivalent of bank and branch numbers in NZ, they don't have account suffixes like NZ either).

NZ Post dont allow you to send money, I know this because I recall an elderly lady berating the person behind the counter because she wanted to send her grandchildren money from Christmas and was told she couldn't

The reason is because of money laundering but I mean whos going to send NZ dollars overseas and lose half of their value in doing so.........

Thanks for this, I've just recommended Transferwise to a friend who was looking at this recently.
