Has anyone used the AMEX Priority Pass Benefit? I have the AMEX Platinum and will travel to Singapore end of this year. Was planning to use it for the first time. Is it straight forward? Any hidden costs? Any recommendation on which lounge to use in Singapore?

I have and its simple enough. I don't use it anymore as I have access to the global lounges via my Star Alliance status.
Just show your card at one of the approved lounges and away you go. You do need to check the lounge info however. Some have restrictions and also some are before security vs after etc.

Does anyone know if you can use the 2 free visits of the Amex Priority Pass benefit for you and a guest? Or will it just use one and charge you for the guest?

I'm finding it really difficult to find this information.

You can't. Pass is for AMEX owner only. Any guest is $35USD. I did this and got charged for my wife and my son where I thought I only had to pay for 1 extra.

Oof that's painful. I feared that might be the case.

The lounge we plan on using is certainly not worth 35 USD. So looks like I'll be sending the girlfriend off to McDonald's for a cheese burger combo.

Related question, does anyone know if an additional cardholder can get their own priority pass? Or is the benefit just for the main cardholder?

Just the main one. I thought of this option as well in the hope that my wife can get free access considering she is always with me when I travel. But when we tried to create an account, it failed. So, ask the Amex chat from the app and was told only the primary account can have it.

We were at the Singapore one. Luckily my son was starving so ate as much as he could and even took a shower at the lounge which I guess made it worth the $35 USD. But ever since I knew that guest is charged, we just check what options are available at the airport and decide whether we use the lounge or not.

from memory the Platinum charge offers priority pass to the primary cardholder plus one additional cardholder. And they can take in one guest I think.

Yes, they both can take guests each however it must be paid at $35USD. There is a 2-pass allowance yearly, but only the member can use it. See below as my one just renewed last week.

You also get 2x entries into the AMEX lounges in SYD/MEL per year in addition to priority pass, and entry can be used for guest unlike priority pass. I’ve heard mixed reviews from colleagues who used the AU Amex lounges. I would not pay $50 NZD to take a guest, but I’ve heard it’s around standard billing rates for airlines using other lounges.

Sorry I meant the Platinum Charge has a different type of Priority Pass membership. You can get for free 2x Priority Pass memberships + each of those memberships can guest in 1 person each for free.

Question is if it is worth it considering the $1250 annual fee.
