I saw a payment for a Spotify subscription today and I don't have one. Called Kiwibank and they said there have been a few of these spurious payments recently. Does anyone know if there has been a specific breach that would have led to more of these lately? Or if it's going on all the time, and just a 'normal' way people test stolen card details?

Probably your number leaked and someone is using it. Chargeback, cancel card.

Thanks, I saw three other Spotify charges over the past three months and they are reversing them. I've got the card blocked for now as I might need to unfreeze it over the holiday break. I can't see any obvious retailer that would be the source of a leak, I've only had this card six months, there are maybe a couple of places that aren't big shops that might have had a skimmer in operation? The address of the account using it seems pretty dodgy.

Have you used the card anywhere that it refused the insert and demanded a swipe? If I get that I switch to my ATM card that I can easily replace at a branch that only has access to one account with no money in it since the mag stripe has all they need to be able to charge online except the CVC.
