I am hearing some talk that this is not far away now (within the next few weeks all going to plan).  Anyone else hear anything about it?

Be about time. Hopefully the talk you are hearing turns out to be true.

Positive news, so handy not having to carry around a card especially in emergencies.

But payWave charges put me off using it and I would rather insert the card to avoid the fee.

Payment Tax!

I had some issues with getting my replacement Kiwibank card recently and I mentioned their lack of Apple/Google payment options. The response I got was early next year.

I've noticed Prezzy Cards which I've been of the understanding that Kiwibank look after now offer both Google and Apple Pay so was thinking it must be close.

Finally. But I will believe it when I see it. Customers have been asking forever and it feels like we have been ignored to date.

I worked at Kiwibank for a bit and know this project well so while I can’t go into too much detail here (I don’t want to cross the line) I can tell you now that based on technical challenges they’ve faced essentially building card tokenisation for a legacy banking core / card system that doesn’t support it it won’t be ready in a couple of weeks (I would be very, very surprised to be proven wrong) but instead will be early to mid next year.

But this timeframe has moved a number of times now. When I was there they said it was 3 months away and that was a year and a half ago. It is coming eventually though and I believe it is a rather big team working on it these days.

Not sure where this rumour came from but somebody I know at KB basically said hell no when I asked them if it’s ready in the next few weeks.

Setting up now! This is awesome.

OK, not working for me!

Spoke to contact centre, the service is under strain at the moment.

Try again later on in the day

Let's close this discussion. Kiwibank has enabled Apple Pay so let's use a discussion for that specifically: Kiwibank Apple Pay - Finally!
