Went to two different shops and at both, the eftpos terminal declined my Apple Pay transaction using Amex. Weirdly enough the same merchant terminals accepted the AP transaction yesterday. Both terminals then accepted the transaction using the physical card.

Anyone else in Wellington experiencing similar ?

Might've been a technical issue at the switch or at the Amex end affecting only Apple Pay and similar at the time - slightly different to using a physical card at the back end as it's tokenised etc.

Just had someone at work with an AU debit Mastercard on their apple pay have it keep declining, but the card its connected to worked fine when we processed it as a phone order on paystation.
