Snapper is well established in Wellington, and soon to be launched in Auckland in time for the Rugby World Cup. It will be also coming to other cities over the year.

Given the chance of buying a Geekzone-branded Snapper card, would you? A standard Snapper card costs $10, how much would you be willing to pay for a branded version?

I would expect to pay $25-30. (do you know if that includes christchurch?)

Possibly not the answer you want to hear, but, $10.
In some situations, I'd want to pay less, as, I'm now advertising for someone.
And no, I would not buy one.

I suspect that most people on here would be using the Snapper USB, but if I were using a conventional snapper card then I would pay a few dollars extra for a Geekzone branded one.

I second that, but I wouldn't buy one until they are usable in Dunedin...which is probably a long way off.
If they become compatible with GoCards here in Dunedin then I would seriously consider it.

What would be the added value so to speak of the GZ brand?

I'm still waiting for integrated ticketing on my normal snapper. If a GZ one offered that, I'd be in like a shot (but then NZ Bus & the rest of the NZ public transport operators would have to offer useful products!)

Unless there were some tangible additional benefits of using a Geekzone branded one, I'm afraid I also have to say $10 - given that I am in Wellington and would replacing my existing one, which is still perfectly usable.

The new cards actually offer some significant advantages over older cards such as being able to install additional apps on them such as a mifare one. There does also exist the possibility that Snapper could decide to replace all existing cards anyway in the future to ensure compatibility with the Thales solution.

$10. Unless there was some form of added value to buying a GZ one of the snapper version.. Just like a keyring from my thai boxing gym gets me discounts at retailers over any normal keyring.

Perhaps, but the card will cost you $70-$80 instead of the unbranded at $20. The subscription would last a year.

You may well be right with that statement!

If it came to Dunedin then I'd consider it. $10 for no benefits, $20-30 if it gave subscriber status etc.

Sorry - I don't see the value in it. My Snapper card stays buried in my wallet and doesn't see the light of day unless it is being topped up.

Maybe a free/discounted card ($10?) with a subscription? That would provide more incentive for people to subscribe.
