I sell a few photos via my website. I made the website myself and I know bugger-all about it, I found a free template, mucked around with it, installed Coppermine Gallery and away I went.

Currently I request to be paid by internet banking, but some people don't use this, so I'd like to be able to offer a CC option as well. Paypal is okay, but not a lot of people use it here. Paypal claim this and that about getting paid by CC, but as far as I can tell everyone has to set up a paypal account to use it, and that's no good as it's forcing them to do so.

My turnover is less than $1,000 p.a., so I'm wondering if there's a way to accept Credit Cards that's cheap and easy, and doesn't require a complete rehash of my website. Of course sending CC  numbers over email isn't any good, so I'd have to have a button or something on my website. I'm guessing there isn't but thought I'd check.

Paymex.co.nz seem okay though, and about as cheap as it gets, and is a NZ outfit.

Thanks.

It may have changed - but dont need a Paypal account to be able to actually pay anyone. They do have variations in their payment systems per country, but by far one the easiest ways to set up payment.

There are many horror stories - but also many good results. Ive been using one for 8 years for business with no issues.

As said. You only need a Paypal account to receive money.

Customers only need a Paypal account if they are buying subscriptions. For one off sales Paypal works just like any other credit card transaction company. And a lot cheaper.

But whenever I've done a dummy run with the Paypal "email Payments" and I'm trying to pay myself, I always get to a page that requires putting in email addresses and billing addresses and signing up to Paypal!

I can't figure out a way around it. Or do i have to upgrade my account to a Premier" or "Business" account?

We a friend did it, we had to get a business one to integrate with the oscommerce paypal stuff, but once done it worked fine. Went thru several loaded cards making dummy purchases to confirm it all worked and screenshot it too.

Never acruued enough in the account to make it worth doing a payout since it was also the easiest way to pay suppliers.

When we were trying to get a real merchant account, not only were the costs absolutly stupid, the bank _AND_ the processor both clipped the ticket for more than paypal took unless you had a massive turnover.

If you use integration and you are the developer then you can easily create and account with the Paypal developer site and create fake credit cards to test the whole system integration.

Thats fine to test the payments work, but it looked totally different to what customers saw when doing payments. And they changed it about 3 times while we were running the store nessecitaing new instructions for people.

Fields move, logos change, buttons change etc. Paranoid people dont like it when things look different to the printout they have been given.

The actuall process hasn't changed but it has had several visual refreshes.

Paypal credit card payments used to be U.S address only. Did that change? Any limitations or problems for NZ?

As others have said.

Paypal.

I have a website and I sell afew photos via it. I use Paypal and the only problems I have had are with people that didn't have a credit card.

See here for an example of a page with Paypal integrated.

Never had this problem. You mean the address of the person paying or receiving the money? Are you sure you are not confusing with the Paypal-branded credit card?

Okay thanks all, my head is spinning a bit but all good. I think the crux of it all is that I'd have to upgrade to a premier or Business account.
