Im killing time, 15mins left before the weekly tradition of filing into the smoko room and drinking whatever happens to be in the fridge (usually we will get through a box or 2 as only a few of us stick around for it).. Along with some potato chips, cheese & crackers with chutneys.. All put on by the boss every week.

Well at least you get something! I work for a small company (8 employees) so i guess it may be a bit of a rarity for a weekly drink lol.. By 4pm we are all hanging out for it, boss included!. He also puts on morning tea on Fridays too! :D

We have a beer fridge disguised as a large cardboard box under a bench, we all contribute to a beer fund, and keep track of who donates how much and when.
This has worked well for the last year, much easier to give 20 bucks on pay day, once a month approx each, rather than one person going to shop and spending like $40 or $50.

Back to beers!

Cheers,
Joseph

I run for it.

I like the people in my department but the idea of mixing with some of "the others" is about as appealing as being forced to eat razorblades.

I spend more time with these people than anybody else I know and I'm not keen to add to that, hahaha.

4pm Beverage / Beer fridge and beer + BBQ for when the weather is nice. A glass of wine if you're so inclined and chips and dips with Pizza on one 1 Friday of the month.

Bosses wife bakes for us every Thursday night for friday morning tea, have drinks/chips/pizza after work if we feel like it.
Had a pink ribbon breakfast to support brest cancer awareness yesterday, pretty much a pot luck breakfast and bring along 5-10 bucks to donate, wear something pink. Pretty good for a company with less than 20 staff.

We put on a barbeque and a few beers (+ soft drinks) yesterday - went down really well, probably make it a more regular event. It is becoming difficult for companies to put on alcohol for employees in Aus. these days however, OSH taking over.

We do supply "lite" beer, but I'm the only sucker who drinks it.

Great barbeque weather of course, 21deg, sunny, and that was at 4.30pm.

Raining now........stil warm though!!

Every Friday the beer, soft drinks, wine and chips arrive at around 3.30 on my floor (I'm pretty sure the other floors get their own supply too). We'll normally be having them around 4, but if its been one of those days (or weeks) no one really minds if you hit them at 3.30. Some will grab a beer and head back to their desks, others will socialize in the kitchen, play xbox, darts or foozeball. There are also various card games that seem to start up around 4, and there used to be some LAN games, but they seem to have not attracted much interest since the xbox showed up.

The last three companies I worked for have done this (the last one did a nice antipesto every Friday with wine and beer instead of just boring potato chips).

"What do you do on Friday nights" is actually one of my job interview questions when I apply for a job. Not because I like getting drunk at work, but because I think how a company treats their employees on a Friday night speaks volumes about how they treat their employees in general. We work in small teams (around 10 - 15), but there is well over 150 of us on this floor alone, so it is a great opportunity to find out what everyone is up to. It creates a friendly environment, and I highly recommend that all business do this.
