3l3m3nt:

Thanks, it was worth a shot. I think Quic have talked to Chorus already, but I'm not sure that they have the power to change anything there. A bit disappointing.

14ms from Oamaru to Christchurch is a joke.

I live just up the road in Timaru and get this result...

Tracing route to 202.179.141.236 over a maximum of 30 hops

Yep, so a distance of 85km adds 10ms of latency to Christchurch  😂

A little more perspective here too..

14ms is actually around the same RTT as Christchurch to Auckland. So effectively, the cable path from Oamaru to Christchurch must be a similar distance even though it's only 247km apart. Not sure how Chorus thinks that's acceptable..

Not sure how it all works but with our previous ISP all traffic had to go all the way up to their POP in Tauranga before going out to the Internet!
Pretty sure we were getting around 12ms with them so yea 14ms just to chch is bad!

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

3l3m3nt: Given the growth they've seen recently, I'm hoping it's not too far off! 😊

Hey there fellow Dunedinite Quic user :)

I too am also hopeful that this is not too far away as well.
