Just for arguments sake.. have you tried multiple end devices (e.g. not a single pc/laptop)

I did not. But I did try different devices.

Anyway.. I haven't seen this problem again. It was back to full speed by the evening.

FWIW It's more likely to have been a Tuatahi issue than a Quic issue.

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Wow.. That's some extensive testing. Maybe put the scripts up on github and make it a project for NZ geeks to test their broadband.

Different ISP and I don't think related to this. It may have been a local thing with TFF being silly, or even a 100Mbit link somewhere here but I think we'll see a whole lot of complaints if your issue was more widespread to other ISP's.

Turns out it was a bug in the dream wall software.
Enabling and then disabling smart queues seems to have done the trick
