Would love to upgrade to this but having a look at the ONT puts me off. Surely Chorus could offer an alternative ONT as an option -- why wait until they run out of their exisiting stock? From this thread it seems that simply offering a different ONT option would bring a lot of customers onboard. The current ONT seems to be more suited to enterprise customers so it may make sense to ringfence that ONT for those customers to ensure continuied availiability for them -- leaving the newer ONT option for home users etc.

My ONT is tucked away nicely in the cabinet with my gear. It’s not as horrible as people are making it out to be 😊

I have a new build with the usual tiny comm cabinet big enough for the standard Chorus ONT and a typical router (such as the EdgeRouter in my case). Not sure if that can fit. It's not just the width, but the depth. Is the silver base able to be removed? What's the PSU like? Chorus website shows a pretty big power brick and two long cables -- one for the AC end and another for the DC end.

Maybe if someone can show a pic of that in a typical comms cabinet I can be more reassured it will fit.

The model 110 is definately not "Enterprise" - that is the SFP ONT. It is missing Enterprise features like, being rack mounted, or dual power supply etc.

Having held one of the new ones, they are a much much nicer form factor

No, It can't be removed so it does not fit in the "in wall" comms cabinets.

The powersupply is similar to a gaming laptop. The AC cable however, can be replaced as it is just a standard IEC.

The new ones are much much smaller, but as said - expected to be November https://sp.chorus.co.nz/inflight-projects/2ndgenxgs-ont

If you can, a fibre patch lead (SC/A each end) with a Cat 6 or Cat6A return will be your best bet to be able to put it where you want, and still be able to close the door.

Hmmmm

The current gen hyperfibre ONT has a switch on the back to turn off its Wi-Fi radios right?

Thanks!

Choice, thanks.

I'm not sure a watt or two and its slightly larger physical size is enough for me to wait around for its replacement. Time to order some Quic I think.

Chorus already have a Single Outlet ONT, but it is for Buisness only. https://www.chorus.co.nz/help/ont/type-spo-110

The 110 ONT is VLAN Transparent, aka whatever VLAN you tag on it will show up as a tag on the RSP handover

It's designed for Business connections with custom requirements, it's not designed for Bitstream2
