Keen to know if the same static IP is retained when switching pppoe / dhcp (assuming this is the plan) or a different static subnet?

And if there's a delay when switching pppoe / dhcp assuming it takes a bit of time to timeout/reconfigure?

Just successfully switched to DHCP and my IP changed. But I don't have a static IP.

@zebis your static IP if you have one along with your static /56 will stay put.

@michaelmurfy I switched to dhcp, same ipv4, different ipv6 /56 prefix.

Doesn't seem to bother the mikrotik, pool and route self updated... just had to wait for the client to drop the old /64 and renew with the new prefix.

My service in wellington was down as well from about 10am to 3pm, got home this evening and it was back up. However, been having some slight performance issues to a server in usa.
I was trouble shooting on pppoe settings, I typed ifconfig /a and it said pppoe wan was mtu 1492 but my eth0 port which is wan in from ont and my eth1 port is to the switch are at 1500mtu
would this cause any issues out of curiosity?

I've also just switched to DHCP auth and my speedtest went from 898down and 323 up to ~15 minutes later 927 down and 382 up, same latency numbers. to Chorus lab from wellington.
Is this just because of DHCP over PPPOE or also part of the MTU thing? Excuse my lack of knowledge.

Note my ipv4 ip remained the same but my ipv6 address changed I have the static ip add-on after going to dhcp
(Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ipv6 shouldnt have changed as part of the add on? or a side effect from switching to dhcp auth)

hmm shouldn’t do that. You sure you’re not using the IA_NA announced /64 instead? In our beta testing there was no change if /56 prefix but also remember it isn’t officially announced so there may be a bug here.

You should have a /56 listed in the Quic control panel. If the /56 you’re getting is different and still remains different after IPoE is officially announced it could be worth letting Quic know.

Just to let the Quic guys know:

I went from PPPOE to DHCP yesterday evening. Both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses are static and were preserved OK.

Working well here with no issues. (I know it's not launched, I'm comfortable with the risk and can always revert back if needed).

Thanks for the flow of information, it makes a positive difference.
