I noticed that all my Amazon devices i.e. Alexa puck and kindle stopped working. They all fail to connect to the Amazon services to register themselves. This only started happening when I switched to Quic hence checking if anyone has similar issues or if it's just coincidence that all Amazon devices decided to fail :) The Fire TV 4K device is still working.

Is the Amazon account based in the US, or is in an Oz one?

Do you see them connected to your router?

So not that i have a Kindle but one thing i can no longer do while using Quic is complete restores via Itunes for iphones - I wipe phones for work when at home. I have done 100+ of these over the last few years and since moving to Quic this process now fails.

Basicaly go through the standard factory reset / restore steps and itunes downloads the 6.8GB image but at the last step where it validates the image it will time out and state a network connection error. I have tested this on 3 differant laptops at home and same issue.

So combined with all the other Quic issues this doesnt surprise me as the packet loss drops my VPN connection for work like 10x /day

Interesting outcome, I replaced my router and thought best time to capture some logs and to my surprise, its working now. Now not sure if it was a router issue or something Quic fixed recently.

I'm wondering why you and others still use Quic if there are these kind of issues? Isn't it easy to switch, pricing is all pretty much the same, and solid internet access is pretty handy?! Genuine question - maybe there is contract lock in or something I'm not aware of.

Good question. I prepaid for a static ip address (I have some use cases where a static ip address comes handy) which I will most likely not get a refund on if I decided to move hence would give it another month and see how it goes. Reading through the incident report, Quic comes out as amateur's, and I am pretty sure there will be few on the forum who will jump on their defence.

You could put the old router back and see if the problem returns. There doesn't seem to be a flurry of other kindle users joining your thread

All providers have issues. Quic have their fair share, they're a small provider who have to replace their entire network due to growth. You see how many issues 2degrees have had just merging networks, now imagine having to fully replacing your production network while customers are connected... There are no contracts either on their network so, on this note:

I respectfully disagree and yes I'm going to jump to their defense because this is a bold statement. As somebody who has seen the amount of work that has gone into this they're by far not amateurs and their network even now isn't too bad with the workarounds they've got in place.

I'm not leaving them due to a few problems - as I've said, all providers suffer problems. Spark recently have had some odd DNS problems, 2degrees with their ongoing migration problems with random service drops, routing issues etc. It doesn't matter who you are, you're never immune to network issues but the thing is out of all the providers what stands out is how open and honest Quic/Vetta are to their customers and that is why people like myself and many others have not left them. My 30 day uptime including a couple of router reboots due to configuration changes is sitting at 99.72% which isn't as bad as many people make out.

I monitor AWS also and have not seen any issues there. I seriously think there was something on your end causing this as it also lines up to a router change.

Genuinely interested, you built/have run an ISP before?

2D are acting like amateurs atm, and they're "mature" in the ISP industry. Hence why I bailed and moved to Quic.

At least Quic admit when they go wrong. 2D on other hand seems to go into lockdown and don't want to admit fault even when its proven its their problem.

Regardless, everyone has their views on things, Ford vs Holden, Apple vs Windows, Fish vs Lamb....

Sorry... calling the way the incident was managed as 'amateur' is probably harsh but that how it read from the incident report. This is just my opinion based on 30+ years of experience, designing, building and supporting complex telecommunication systems. Mods, feel free to lock this topic as there is nothing else to add and as @xpd said, everyone has a view :)
