I want to upgrade to HyperFibre via Quic.

This means I need an ONT upgrade and to give my exisiting ISP 30 days notice before swapping services.

How do I manage the timing of the switchover between Spark and Quic so I am not paying for both services but don't have any downtime between when swapping?

Do Quic ask Chorus to do my ONT upgrade? How do I coordinate ISP switch to ONT upgrade?

I ask because I cannot seem to find answers to these issues on the Quic Support page.

Thank you

Guy

Rule of thumb seems to be you get your connection connected via your existing ONT to Quic (migrate from existing provider), and then lodge an order for Hyperfibre after. I don't think there's any other way you can co-ordinate this well, as you're trying to schedule two separate service providers.

The simplest way would be to get the Quic connection in progress and livened now because if you place the Disconnection order with the loosing ISP that could throw the spanner in the works for the ONT upgrade as there would be a pending / in-progress order on that ONT/ASID for the Disconnection.

Chorus should be able to use port 1 and the 10GB port on the ONT to give you service for both connections at the time of the upgrade, then once its upgraded you can put the disconnection request in for the old service on port 1.

When i migrated to HyperFibre i did it this way, then the only disruption i had was the upgrade of the ONT and the Re-Patch to the New Split in the Cabinet, This meant i had 2 services on the one ONT but i could migrate to the Hyperfibre Connection when i go the chance.

The other option that you could try would be Transfer Primary, Now this could go either way, it might trigger the ONT upgrade meaning when the New connection is livened on the 10GB port it should cancel out the old service.

The other other option would be request an additional ONT for the HyperFibre service, but this could also be a bit more of a PITA to get over the line, but that would mean once the Tech has been out they should be able to give you an exact date for the installation and you can then put your disconnection request in on the old ONT as that shouldn't affect the NEW ONT Installation status as its not installed and the new ONT should have a Different SLID and ASID off the bat completely unrelated to the old ONT.

Some one from Chorus would know how to work this to a tee.
