The United Nations developed as a result of World War 2 with some hope of preventing the next one. I think it probably helped somewhat.

The League of Nations developed as a result of World War 1 with some hope of preventing the next one. I think it probably... oh...

(The LoN did successfully force Greece and Bulgaria to back down when a border dispute in 1925 threatened to become a full blown war.)

Abused AI (AAI©) is the final nail in the coffin of democracy as we know knew it.

I just hope that any discussion of abused AIs is less tribal than debates on the Oxford comma.

Or this stupid debate, which has gained national attention in the UK

New ‘welcome’ sign on UK railway station has everyone scratching their heads – can you work out what’s ‘wrong’ with it?: The Sun
...
The large “Welcome to Leeds” sign is front and centre of the £46million refurbishment.

But despite the massive expense, the sign has come under scrutiny from travellers who think the word “Leeds” has been spelt with an upside-down “p” instead of a “d”.

The sign is on one side of a clock tower at the centrepiece of the scheme to improve the front of the station.

Hilarious comparison images with a sign with a similar font reveal the letter shows similarities to a “p” due to the size of the central hole being noticeably larger.

The mere thought of belonging to any camp would be extremely uncomfortable for me—or, as a wise man once said: "The head is round so that thinking can change direction." 🙂

So it seems we are handing the world over to a small bunch of guys who I would not trust to walk a dog, without putting up any resistance.

Society must change in era of artificial intelligence, says Nvidia boss

I don't remember any of them being elected as rulers of the world

Now Peter Thiel thinks that your democracy is infringing on his freedom, so he has a solution to that.

Listening to the unethical, dehumanizing drivel of these tech bosses, one might think they themselves had already been replaced by their own AI.

Literally, what planet are these guys on?

Why Jeff Bezos predicts AI will create labor shortage amid his space rivalry with Elon Musk

He seems to think he is part of the solution rather than problem of rampant capitalism asset stripping the world. In order to maintain his conscience he is betting on a zero probability event.

Bezos:

If space travel gets reliable enough and inexpensive enough, and we can get materials from asteroids and near-Earth objects and the moon, then this garden planet can be returned to its pre-Industrial Revolution state

The way to return to the pre-industrial revolution state is to let the global population shrink to a sustainable size and not have a culture where everyone demands more instead of being happy with sufficient.

Someone I know used a AI to summarise handwritten note from a performance review.   The clanker churned out some dribble about a personal journey, the joy of sculpture and something about harps.

Plot twist: the person that wrote the note does pottery and plays a harp?

I wonder what it might be doing to job applications..

Could it be that they need to do their job properly now, so there’s no reason for disputes? 😁
