Hi there,

I have recently being attempting to use the MediaPortal software with freeview. Getting freeview to work on my default Haugpage WinTv was a mission in itself! However i got it working with information from this thread

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=34&topicid=15423&page_no=2

As the LNB's that folk are using here are single LO models, being either 10750MHz or 11300MHz then it makes sense to load both LO entries with the same detail as per your LNB. As for the switch frequency, I recommend that you make it 12750MHz. There are no transponders above this frequency therefore the first LO entry will be used at all times, more importantly the card will not output 22kHz tone. The absense of tone causes the LNB to use the first LO and the second is ingaged when the 22kHz tone is present. I have noted that some single LO LNB's will infact respond to 22kHz (when they should not) and switch to a not present LO, ie they have the swithing gear but only one LO, thus have no input.

The above condition could be what is causeing some of you no output, the card is outputting 22kHz tone, causing the LNB to switch to a non existant LO that causes no output. A switch entry of 0 would cause this, therefore I recommend that you enter 12750MHz (12750000kHz) as the switching frequency.

Many thanks Cyril for that info!

Now that i have that sorted im looking to intergrate the much more pretty software MediaPortal. I cannot find any channels! I have edited 160.0 degress file but i bellieve i am coming unstuck at the point of setting the LNB settings.. Theres nowhere to do it!!! Im looking for something similar to

http://mcraenz.googlepages.com/TVServerLNBConfig.jpg/TVServerLNBConfig-custom;size:646,479.jpg

So i can use the settings that Cyril reccomends, but for the life of me cant find an input! I know that the screenshot above is from the server version and not the stand alone program. Surely the standalone program allows one to view DVB-S for us in NZ!?

Any help is much appreciated

LNB settings are a little different in mediaprotal standalone, I can't remember exactly but I think they are in the config tool under TV\Cards, then the properties of the specific card; somewhere in there. BUT why not use TVServer it's really much better and has many advantages. + I can offer much more help with TVServer Wink

I have had a look at your setups of which i must say are very impressive. My only concern with the server being beta is it too unstable? Or do you find it copes just fine with normal viewing?

Cheers

I too am trying to setup mediaportal, but 've I found TVserver to difficult to setup.

I couldn't for the life of me understand MSSQL express and even setting up the standalone has been a mission. It just won't pick up any of the freeview channels. No mattter what sort of changes I make to the files.

Is there another easy way of going about it for a newbie?

Regs, just a point based on some converstaions with others using DVB-S cards lately. In the LNB setup you have the 22kHz present, I suggest you leave this off, there is no need for it, if you have a dual throat Sky Sharp LNB then the tone will switch you to look at C1 (nothing to watch there) and some non Sky LNBs will infact respond to the tone even though they have only one LO, if they do respond then you will get no output, standard sky single throat LNBs are not affected by 22kHz tone, so you would not know if it was correct to have it on or off.

I would recommend that you set the switching frequency to 12750, this will ensure that the LO1 setting is used and if the software thinks you have a universal LNB will stop if from generating tone, which as I pointed out above can cause problems.

Just my thoughts from afar, as I have had hands on with mediaportal.

I'll take a look tonight and drop that value in and make sure it all still works.  If all is good i'll update the post :-)
