Hello, does anyone here have a Plex pass and HD Homerun device? I'm interested in the feasibility of this in NZ:

https://www.plex.tv/features/dvr/

No mention of the HDHR3 being supported, but I'd still be interested to have a go. I would buy a Plex pass if it would work. Heck I'd buy a HDHR4 if it would work. I have been in a holding pattern for years with the HTPC, and it's lack of remote friendly Netflix.

I'm interested in this as well.

I assume you setup the DVR on the Plex Server, then Plex Clients can see it?

if so, it makes the AppleTV a very handy device - DVR, Live TV, and apps.

Just signed up now, although in the UK, as you go through it maps the channels on the HDHR to guide data frm the internet. Think it gives the supprt countries in the Q&A?

ATV4 already has this functionality via TVHeadend/HDHomerun.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

yeah no live tv.  I've suggested like kodi, they introduce PVR based plugins.....of which hdhomerun could be a direct connection.  But would allow use of nextpvr/mediaportal/tvheadend etc.

Given I've got an older non connect hd home run it holds no interest for me personally, and no live tv.  I get all that functionality with a nextpvr channel in plex.

the no live tv is disappointing if that is correct,

there is some hope with OpenPHT client in the future we might get access to the existing KODI PVR plugins in the future as they continue to bring more of core KODI into OpenPHT

I was using the HDHR viewer channel (plugin) to plex, was working a treat for live TV (albeit without channel info which I wasn't too bothered about). But this has stopped working due to incompatibilities with newer plex server software (again, haven't looked too far into it).

Will have a play and see how it goes!

You could always give Emby a go, apparently it works quite well with later Homeruns. Haven't tried myself, no DVB-T. Course if you've paid for Plex, probably not much point.

Mediaportal I know had a channel for use within plex that I think gave live tv.  I have one for nextpvr.  Unsure if media portal has one.

These all have the advantage of not being restricted to a certain type of tuner, but do have the disadvantage of another piece of software to be configured/installed.  But it can be local to the plex server, or remote.

i looked at the mediaportal plex plugin which i switched to plex, was no longer been worked on, so didnt bother to try it, im using mediaportal just for tv still, launching plex from within mediaportal.

that next PVR link in your signature isnt valid anymore

how goes it work? is it stable? do you get EPG etc inside plex?

Ahh I see, further down.  I've removed the plex plugin (which was the other way around, allowed access to plex from nextpvr).

https://github.com/psyciknz/NextPVR-Plex

You don't get EPG in plex, it was designed for live tv viewing and really simple playback of recordings.  The epg is what's on currently and is fed from nextpvr.

So while I guess they have a more full featured DVR integration, it doesn't do the live tv, this channel does.

there's other methods for that.  Again both media portal and nextpvr can support it, but tends to head towards dodgy activity and requires specific sky cards etc.

Plex say they are looking into Live TV.

I want to know if PlexPVR will read the EIT data from the NZ broadcasts for the full EPG. They do say they have EPG data for NZ in this FAQ, but it is not 'high quality'.

Would be worth it I think if the EPG data was good, and a bonus when they came through eventually with LiveTV.

I worry that Plex will become bloated and less stable by adding functionality they never intended to create.
