This white sun spot appeared on the LG about two weeks ago. Fixable or no?

Guessing that maybe a back lit LED TV , in which case on some models the reflectors have been coming unstuck from the LEDs which can cause that effect . Unfortunately fixing requires separating the LCD and back light . I think there are video instructions on YouTube if you are brave enough .
Yes it's a LG LB56, manual say "led tv applies lcd screen with led backlights". Watch the vid yeah/nah, now thats something I could definitely screw up. How much do you think to repair?
Not sure that electronic repair shops would attempt to repair and the cost of a new screen would be more than replacing the TV .
clive100:
How old is the TV ?
2 month short of 5 years
LG replaced my screen at 3 and half years no charge , I did not have to make much noise . I just went directly to LG .
You could always try your luck .
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Yep go for repair or replacement under the CGA.
So an update on this
Long story short, LG believes this to be an acceptable failure of the tv given its age, and that its just a glue failure. Take it to service agent and they can reglue.
Given this is a nonsmart TV with apple tv and a chromecast attached and connected to a stereo, guess I should just go buy a bigger screen Veon. It will cost less than the cost to repair this tv.

Just a glue failure, so what is the cuase of the glue failing prematurely? They are in the best position to repair it for you IMO. That is also the environmentally friendly solution, as otherwise it ends up in the landfill. Smart TVs are not a great replacement over using boxes, as the smart features usually only has a limited life compared to the screen. My smart TV no longer has any smart features left after they gradually phased out features over time like youtube, facebook, twitter etc.
I agree with what your saying.
The lead up to todays phone call was all done by live chats. The first to lodge complaint second to supply pop receipt and serial no and then be told you need to take it to service center to be repaired I can't help you. To which I replied does LG except this to be reasonable failure of their tv after only 4years 10 months. To which they said they would forward on to tech dept, how would I like to be contacted and I said email thanks.Anyway 10 days latter no email.
So today live chatted again to enquire when I might heard from the tech dept. So sorry someone will contact you next day.1/2hour later I get a call as I was about to sit down to dinner, 6.45pm. I wasn't going to answer to start with as it was from Australia, from a number I didn't recognize and when I did answer there was that quiet you get when your getting one of those Hi its microsoft here to help you fix your computer type calls.
So i then get told they deem Ive had my moneys worth out of the tv. So either pay to repair yourself or not up to you.The tv has lived up to the requirements under the cga.
You would hope it should have lasted longer, but your options are (obviously):
Depending on your inclination, maybe 4 followed by 3 if you break it. If 4 works you will feel like a hero....
Plenty of vids on YouTube.

Why not just go back to the retailer, instead of dealing with the manufacturer? Armed with the links above you may have better success. Depends how much time you have though, but choosing a new tv can be a big job too.
