I have been playing with MP for a while using a Hauppauge HVR3000 for FreeView and Hauppauge PVR150MCE for connecting analogue sky from the STB (a Motorola DTH 320 - old model).

The PVR comes with a USB-connected media remote with two blaster ports. I have configured IR Server to do the blasting from MP and, in testing, got it to turn off/on my TV, but i cannot get the STB to recieve any commands.

IR server appears to capture the commands from the remote without issue, but blasting back is a problem. From my investigative covering and directional remote pointing, I have determined that the IR reciever on the STB appears to be behind the power button, but when I stick the  blaster bug to it, it does not work.

I have come to two conclusions:
1) The capturing of the remote codes is not working correctly
2) The IR reciever and bug are just not close enough for the STB to receive the codes.

Has anyone got an IR server configuration for this STB or had a go at blasting this one. I am tempted to put the front cover off and get the reciever/sender right up and snuggly, but Sky may disapprove :)

For the pace one, which has one of those translucent black panels over the lights, i put a torch on it at the right angle and i could see the receiver inside it.
I've found the blaster bug things work well from 30cm or so, maybe try moving it around and bringing it closer to different parts? I also found it appears to blast out of the end rather than straight through the sticky stuff.

I have tried to blast from all sorts of angles and locations across the front of the STB with no luck :(

I might see if i can gently remove the cover and get up close and personal.

On the Zenith ones (I think it was Zenith) the iR receiver is actually under the power switch so have to stick the iR repeater/blaster on it to make it work.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I have pulled the STB box temporarily apart to confirm the location of the IR reciever and it was as advised located under the power button.

But no configuration I try in IR Server to blast a signal to this box is ever received. The LED that flashes when a command is sent from its remote does not even indicate that it has recieved any signal.

I double-checked my blaster setup with my TV and all worked well, so it is definitely either capturing the signal from the remote or the STB being to lazy to recieve anything but its own. Do anyone have the remote commands for this old Motorola DTH 320 and when I can manually enter them into IR server?

The STB we have is a very old model, it was changed when we were having signal problems a while back, but we kept the same remote. I wonder if i could convince Sky to change my STB to a more modern one ;).
