Sorry if this is not the right place for my post, but I couldn't see another category that suits

I've got a chrome cast that I've had for about 3 years but I've not used it recently

thanks to Vodafone we got the 'Deco'? wifi things  last year and have set them up and we have a new wifi password.

However in the weekend I tried to use the chrome cast but I couldn't get it to cast - I think it might be because the chrome cast was set up with the old wifi password?

Does anyone know if this would be the case - and if the chrome cast needs to be 'reset' (and how to reset it if necessary)

thanks in advance

if you changed the wifi parameters, you would need to get chromecast to join that.

they all have a button, with different expected led behaviour depending on which model you have: Factory reset your Chromecast.

Ok so I've reset the chromecast, and then this message comes up on the TV

No description available.

I don't want to use my iPad / iPhone for this - I just want to use the Macbook

I've tried the trouble shooter (unplugging the chromecast from the power and plugging it back in) but still says  'no device found'.

I'm not sure what else I can try?

if all else fails I do have a cable that connects direct from my Macbook into HDMI, but that will mean having to unplug the Macbook and take it into the bedroom and putting it near the TV so I can plug into the TV HDMI - but I'd prefer to cast it

any other things I can try?

You need to setup the Chromecast using your phone…

Ok thanks... I’ve tried that but I don’t know where to go on the ‘home’ screen on the iPhone.... it wants to add accessory, but I don’t know how or where to find the Chromecast as it’s wanting me to scan the accessory or enter some code for the accessory and this is where I’m stuck

Follow through https://chromecast.com/setup as it guides you through it.

In the home app on my phone and iPad I don’t have a + > setup device option
I’ll try rebooting the Chromecast again

I managed to sort the chromecast out

what was throwing me off was the 'home' app

the set up instructions said to open up the 'home' app, but there are 2 different home apps

The home app that was already installed on the iPad and iPhone and the 'Google' home app

it took me ages to figure out they meant the 'Google' home app, so I downloaded the google home app and it was easy after that
