So my 2017 RZ710 is now showing an orange flashing “Hybrid Standby” light and won’t power on.

I’m torn between trying to find someone competent (I’m in Tauranga) to try to repair the RZ or order the new Onkyo TX-NR696Mk2 which seems to have some nice features.

My take on the flashing light on the RZ is that a transistor has gone, but I’m no genius.

I have a perfectly good set of 4 x B&W M1’s with matching centre and sub, so am reluctant to head down the soundbar path.

Value some objective input.

Not sure who services Onkyo anymore, but Computer Dynamics are the distributor and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for that.
I think I used to have an account with them.. I’ll check about repair. and ask about selling to me too.

As a side-note, I’ve found a Denon AVR-S960H on sale at $1599 and find I’m very tempted.
Never owned a Denon unit but they always used to be rated very highly and seem to have better support in NZ.

So now I'm torn between:

A) the less expensive brand new Onkyo model TX-NR696Mk2 (https://garyanderson.co.nz/product/onkyo-tx-nr696mk2-7-2-channel-network-a-v-receiver/) that arrives in March

OR

B) the slightly dearer soon to be retired Denon model AVR960H (https://garyanderson.co.nz/product/denon-avr-s960h-av-receiver/)

Both are nice but skip the Onkyo, it will only break down.

Thanks.
Popped out yesterday and grabbed the Denon.
In and running, mostly sorted.
