Hi. I'm going/thinking of upgrading my TV.

I understand most new TVs have Netflix / Disney / Prime etc streaming services built into them.

Do these "download" the movies / show first, then play them? Or are they still streaming from the net while playing?

My current TV is old, & I'm using google chromecast. Getting buffering. Though if I "download" on my mobile phone first, then cast, it seems to be improved.

They stream them the same way as chromecast does.

Suggest you look into why you have a poor connection.

Maybe consider using the chromecast ethernet adapter to remove wifi issues?

where do you find these chromecast ethernet adapters? I've looked at all major electronic stores online & can't see any store selling these - only the regular Chromecast.

Chromecast can sometimes be 'cranky' and buffer because they have poor wifi connectivity.
If you can stream you chosen services on a pc web browser without issues and your tv is near enough to your wifi, i would expect your experience will be OK with a new tv.

Have you checked out an Amazon fire tv stick? If your current tv is ok, one of these might be the solution. You install apps on the stick and it has a proper menu etc.

All devices , TVs, sticks etc, will stream. They don't download and then play.

Is WiFi the problem? Most smart tv have Ethernet.

Changing the position and orientation of the Chromecast might help if you can't move the router closer.

Netflix help indicates the feature is not supported on any TV platform. It would be useful.

Almost any power delivery usb-c hub in combination with a USB Ethernet adaptor of any kind. Most will work. Usb-c hub with inbuilt Ethernet, most will work.
