I saw some 1.5m HDMI v1.3b cables for $10 in a bargin bin at Harvey Norman on the north shore late last week for anybody interested. They were unlabelled in sealed bags except for the harvey norman price tag which had them at $130 orginally.

just out of curiousity, what brand ? if it's $130 originally, then it's more like the MONSTA cable

They didn't actually have any visible brand. They were just in a sealed clear plastic bag with the Harvey norman price tag on them. There may have been some markings on the cable itself but I didn't look that closely. I have no HDMI capable products but I nearly picked up a couple anyway.

They had this deal here awhile ago, they aren't the Monster brand cable. They are the thinner HDMI cables, but still work fine. 1.3b I think is the spec for them. I bought two but can't be bothered pulling out my home theater gear to check. I have my doubts about the original price being $130 as well.

Yeah that's what I thought when I saw the orginal price tag! Surely not! No wonder nobody bought them! Yup, they had v1.3b written on the label.

They would be good for wraping round the roses in the garden, or maybe using as shoelaces on that massive pair of boots sitting on the porch.

$10 would be there proper retail price, $130 would have been the magic fairy price in wonderland.

Jaycar's latest mailer has a special - 4 x 1.8m HDMI cables for $30 otherwise they were $11.90 each.

Good for someone who wants a lot of cables!

Bought some new off Trade Me for $15, had my TV nicked and they took the Cables too, insurance sorted them out with Harvey Norman and when i picked them up, they were in exactly the same clear plastic bag and looked to be the same, but had a $79.95 sticker on them.

HDMI cables have been showing up quite often on 1-day sale sites lately. If you missed out at HN, there are plenty of other places to get them for a reasonable price:)

I can confirm the special is at the Lower Hutt store also. They have them in the clear plastic bags as well as some in the boxes still. I can also confirm the original price for both was (according to the HN sticker) indeed $130.

Sure they may have not sold a lot but at the start when HDMI was first coming out I bet they managed to sell a few at marked down to maybe half price with the purchase of your brand new lcd or plasma tv's. In fact you can still many places that sell supposed premium branded HDMI for around $100 or more.

I have to agree though that I would never pay anything near that. $10 nearly had me buy one or two though.

Waaay off topic (HDMI cables), but here's my recent experience with pricing, etc. at Hardly Normal:

All the major appliances in my kitchen were pretty old, most not working properly, and I had worked out a schedule of when each item was going to be replaced. When the built-in microwave died, it jumped the queue and I replaced it with a microwave/convection oven combination from HN Lower Hutt. I then decided to get a new matching under-bench oven and went back to HN on Sunday to see if they had any "beat the GST rise" deals. Most appliances were marked with their regular prices (that I saw a few months ago when buying the combi), but I was offered a great deal on the oven I wanted, plus a ceramic cooktop, for only $100 more than the oven - a saving of over $1000. I was pretty happy with that, and you can only imagine how the salesman talked up what a great deal I was getting.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the the HN mailer that arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Not only are both items I bought on sale (since Sunday, the day I bought them) meaning my saving was actually around $120 on the correct price on the day, but the oven I bought has a note saying 'Buy any cooktop with this oven and receive a free 20" TV'.

Nobody mentioned that on Sunday! Any guesses where I'll be tonight, complaining...

They are probably the cables that come with players that they remove so that they can sell you an overpriced monster cable when buying stuff...

My PS3 certainly didn't... Do any other Sony players come with them?
Are other stores removing their HDMI cables too? If so, what ones?
